Welcome to The Friend 1914-18 Digital Archive
About the Archive
Technical problem: Unfortunately the 1914-18 Digital Archive isn’t currently available, due to an issue with a third party integration. However, a new Friend website is on the horizon, so service will be fully restored once that is launched this summer! We apologise for any inconvenience or frustration caused in the interim.
The Friend 1914-18 Digital Archive is a complete reproduction of every page of The Friend from 1914-18. Every issue published is now available to view exactly as it was printed. There are more than 250 editions and about 5,000 individual pages. The archive was scanned by the British Library Digitisation Unit in Boston Spa, West Yorkshire. The archive reflects the response of Quakers to the first world war as events unfolded.
The search facility, using key words, enables you to find those editions of the magazine where your subject is referred to.
