Bayard Rustin
The Quaker and black civil rghts activist Bayard Rustin, who was a close associate of Martin Luther King and an advocate of gay and lesbian rights, had a commemorative plaque unveiled on 28 June outside his long-time residence at Penn South, New York.
Friends join Armed Forces Day protests

Friends throughout the United Kingdom joined protests against events held to mark Armed Forces Day on Saturday 30 June. There were vigils and demonstrations in Glasgow, Southampton and Blackpool, as well as in smaller towns, such as Folkestone and Guildford, and elsewhere in the UK.
‘Peace tree’ at WWI centenary event
